Catharism

Catharism
This term (seemingly derived from the Greek katharos, meaning "pure") refers to a medieval European religious movement that taught a type of dualism (the opposition between good and evil). Catharism was prevalent in the cities of Albi and Toulouse in southern France in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries but was effectively exterminated by the Inquisition andCrusades.
